I met baby Lawson’s Momma when I reached to her earlier this year for a floral crown to wear at my bohemian birthday soiree. Kristen is the co-owner of The Proper Petal, a local floral arrangement business here in Richmond. You might recall seeing a beautiful floral crown on Erin (one of my fabulous clients!) during her maternity session that they did – completely swoon!! If you want some pretty florals on your Instagram feed, be sure to follow them. When Kristin dropped off the floral crown on my birthday I saw that she too had a cute little baby bump! I was secretly hoping that she would reach out for newborn portraits and I’m so glad that she did!
The Wiley’s are just the sweetest family! They have a beautiful home that is filled with love for their precious newborn son, Lawson. Their golden retriever, Bagley, is such a proud big sister! She was keeping a close watch on me while I got setup for their in-home session to begin. Lawson’s nautical-inspired nursery was absolutely perfect! The fish wall by his crib was my favorite! So many handpicked nursery décor items that I loved capturing for them.
I have to say that this family is a trooper! When I arrived for their session they had gone several days without power (thanks to tropical storm Bonnie!). Thankfully their family is nearby and they’d been staying with them. I reassured them that we could still do their newborn photos in their home because I only work off of natural light anyway – no electricity needed! The warm temperatures in the house are also ideal for a newborn session so we were all set! While we were capturing memories inside, there were contractors and electricians galore scurrying about outside repairing the damaged homes in their neighborhood. Their next door neighbor’s tree was struck by lightning (yikes!!). Some damage was done to Kristen’s home but thankfully no one was hurt. This sweet family was so calm and collected you wouldn’t have known a thing. I’m sure that snuggling their sweet baby boy is all that mattered to them!
