Every year Ryan’s company has an incentive trip to a tropical all-inclusive destination and he’s worked hard to earn a trip for the last 3 years (so very proud of him!). The first year we went to Cabo, last year was Dominican Republic, and this year Ryan and I packed our bags last week and headed to Playa Mujeres, Mexico!!
Normally I plan ahead with packing and I’m typically all ready to go roughly a week in advance before a trip. This time I couldn’t seem to get my act together — the cold Virginia weather must have been slowing me down — as I was still doing some last minute packing at 3:30AM before leaving the house at 4AM to catch our flight. Thanks to Ryan’s Sky Priority status with Delta we got to skip the long line at airport security, board the plane first, and enjoy Economy Comfort seats on the way there (and back!)!!
When we arrived, there was a black SUV waiting to take us to our resort. We stayed at the Excellence resort (adults only) which was absolutely fabulous!! I highly recommend it! We were greeted with a glass of champagne as they said “Welcome home Mr. & Mrs. Shumate”. We were then escorted to the Excellence Club lounge (another excellent perk!!) — it was the ultimate luxury experience throughout our entire stay. Once we checked-in, we got a tour of the resort. It was unbelievable — 9 restaurants, 6 pools, 11 bars, and more! I couldn’t wait to explore!
We spent our vacation relaxing on the beach under a private cabana, lounging by the pool, swimming in the ocean, eating lots of delectable food, sipping on delicious tropical drinks, playing ping pong by the pool, hanging out with iguanas (I held and kissed one!), and soaking up the sun. One of my favorite memories is going out on a Catamaran sailboat! It was SO much fun!! We went way out by the buoys but you could still see the bottom of the ocean. SO cool!
We had such a wonderful time!! I’m certainly missing paradise while looking out the window to 5″ in snow here at home. Can’t wait for our next adventure. Hope you enjoy some of my favorite photos from the trip 🙂
