Dear Little One,
Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamt about being a mommy, your mommy. While other young girls were planning their wedding day, playing dress up in their mom’s wedding gowns… I was playing house and pretending that I had a handful of kiddos! I always loved pretending about going to the grocery store. The passion in my heart to become a mother has always been present and grew even stronger when your daddy and I exchanged vows on December 1, 2012.
It was quite a journey leading up to the moment that we found out I was pregnant with you, little one. We had been praying and praying for you! For 2 1/2 years we waited our turn and knew in our hearts that God would bless us with the good news when the timing was just right. Words cannot express the excitement your daddy and I had when we found out that you were joining our family!!!
It was a sunny Friday morning before Valentine’s Day weekend 2016. Your daddy had already left for work. I was sitting on the edge of our bathtub and my hands were shaking with anticipation. I said a quick prayer before revealing the results of the pregnancy test to myself… My eyes widened and filled with tears of joy! For the first time ever, the test read… PREGNANT!! I couldn’t believe it! I fell to my knees and thanked God for you. I rubbed my belly and was grinning from ear-to-ear! That day felt like the longest work day ever… I couldn’t wait to get home to tell Ryan the news. Several weeks before I had purchased a card that I planned to give him when the timing was right. “Only the best husbands… (flip the card open)… get promoted to Daddy! We’re having a baby!” I recorded the moment so we could share with you one day. The look on his face was priceless! He was shocked and so excited!!! His exact words were “I’m so happy — this means the world to me.” We had a date night already planned for that evening so we scooted off to Portico for a delicious dinner. We spent the rest of the night talking all about you and how excited we are to begin this journey with you.
I promise to be the best mother I can be for you. I have my own mother to thank for she (and my Dad!) taught me all I know about parenthood. They have been the most incredible examples and have set the bar high (I can’t wait for you to meet MiMi and Pop!). I have a feeling that they (and your other Grandmom, Gimmie!) are going to spoil you rotten. You have a bunch of 1st cousins already too!! Ryleigh, Maury Jr., and Elizabeth are so excited to play with you! MiMi and Pop recently got a rivah house so we will be going there a bunch. SO many fun memories to come with you, little one!
As I write this, I am in my 16th week of pregnancy (only 24 more weeks to go!) and today is my first Mother’s Day. We are staying busy getting your nursery all ready and we’re having fun finding things for your baby registry. You’re about the size of an avocado now. In our previous ultrasounds we’ve heard your heartbeat… it was music to my ears! You’re growing so fast! You have a little button nose, tiny little ears, and the cutest fingers and toes! They say you can hear my voice so I’m starting to sing to you now… I think your favorite song is “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” (Wizard of Oz was one of my favorites growing up!). I’m patiently waiting to feel your first kick in my tummy!! In a few weeks we’ll know if you’re a boy or a girl! We will love you no matter what! I love you so and anxiously await that moment when the doctor places you in my arms for the first time, that moment I can first look into your eyes, that moment your hand first reaches for mine, that moment when your Daddy rocks you to sleep… so many memorable moments to look forward to and I promise not to ever take them for granted. You are our miracle, a gift from God, and we love you with all our hearts. I couldn’t feel more blessed and honored to be your Mother.
Love You Bunches,
