My overall approach to newborn photography was initially inspired by the extremely talented Tamara Hart with Bump Meet Baby photography. I was in awe of her attention to the little (but so very important!) details of a tiny newborn. Tamara has been photographing newborns for over 6 years now and has mastered the art of pure, simple, natural images. While incorporating natural light, neutral fabrics and colors, Tamara’s images have a delicate organic feel that will make your heart sing. Shying away from the distraction of the trendy Pinterest poses and props (you know the images I’m talking about)… and instead letting the newborns fall into the natural poses on their own (with some gentle assistance), honing in on the little miracles that they are. In 2012, Tamara opened a beautiful natural light studio nestled in Goose Creek, South Carolina where all the magic happens.
Since launching my photography business I have invested my time and money into hundreds of online resources, webinars, guides, books, etc. along the way to better educate myself on how to successfully run a business and be a creative photographer. However, much of the way I run my day-to-day business and the flow of a session was self-taught. A while back, I purchased Tamara’s Unadorned Natural Newborn Guide & Videos and the Fresh Start Bundle video set which was very helpful in getting me started on the right track.
I reached out to Tamara this past November when I found out that I would be heading her way to attend a wedding in late-April. I rarely travel to South Carolina so this was the perfect time to try and get together! Well, I’m SO incredibly excited to tell you that I’m officially booked with Tamara for a 1:1 mentoring session. Just me, Tamara, and her studio… for 14 hours!!! We’re working on a full-day lesson plan to include newborn/family sessions, post-processing education, a business evaluation, and more! I cannot tell you how excited I am to road trip down to Charleston to get that hands-on educational experience that I’ve been craving and learn new techniques with lifestyle newborn photography that I just know will transform my business.
Below are some images I captured last year with some of my amazing little clients. I cannot wait for the creative juices to start flowing even more after my mentoring session 🙂
